Ph.D. Mental Health, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health 

Dr. Hayden's research is focused on the central theme of early detection of cognitive changes and risk factors associated with the development of Alzheimer‘s disease (AD) and other dementias. Current areas of investigation are the epidemiology of cognitive decline and mild cognitive impairment due to AD, with an emphasis on cardiovascular risk factors as well as other modifiable risk and protective factors.

Dr. Hayden is involved in a number of research studies including the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) and the Women's Health Initiative Memory Study (WHIMS); the ACHIEVE Clinical Trial; the Look AHEAD study; the Study of AD, Genes, and Pesticide Use in the Agricultural Health Study; and the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA). She is a Co-Core Leader of the MESA Core of the Wake Forest Alzheimer's Disease Research Center. She is also a Senior Associate Editor for Alzheimer's & Dementia: The Journal of the Alzheimer's Association.
